Window tinting prices in Florida vary more than most people expect. A quick Google search will surface everything from $99 specials to $800 full-car ceramic installs -- and both numbers can be legitimate depending on what you're actually buying. This guide breaks down what you'll actually pay and why, so you can shop with confidence.
The biggest price driver is film type. Dyed film is the cheapest -- you'll see full-car installs advertised for $99-$150 at budget shops. It blocks some visible light but does almost nothing for heat, fades within 2-3 years in Florida sun, and often voids the warranty if it bubbles. Carbon film runs $200-$350 for a standard sedan and offers real heat rejection without the fade. Ceramic film -- the top tier -- runs $300-$600+ for a full car. It's the only film that meaningfully solves Florida's heat problem and typically comes with a lifetime warranty.
Vehicle size matters almost as much as film type. A compact sedan has fewer and smaller windows than a full-size SUV or truck. Most shops price by vehicle class (sedan, SUV, truck) rather than by window count. Per-window pricing -- which is how Coastal Tint Co. prices -- is more transparent: you pay for exactly what you're getting, nothing more.
The number of windows you tint also affects price significantly. A standard package covers the rear windows and rear windshield. Adding the two front door windows is common and adds to cost. The front windshield is the most expensive single window -- it's large, curved, and requires precision cutting. A windshield-only ceramic tint on a standard vehicle typically runs $150-$200 by itself.
Geographic location within Florida also plays a role. Miami-area shops tend to run 10-20% higher than west coast Florida markets like Sarasota, Bradenton, and Port Charlotte. Labor costs and real estate overhead are higher in South Florida, and that gets passed to customers.
Here's a rough price range guide for ceramic tint (the only tier we recommend in Florida) by vehicle type: compact/midsize sedan $250-$400, full-size sedan or small SUV $300-$450, midsize to large SUV $350-$550, trucks $300-$500 depending on cab style and glass configuration. These are installed prices with a quality film brand -- not bargain-bin generics.
The cheapest option is almost never the right call in Florida. Cheap film installed today means bubbling, purpling, and a repeat install fee in 18 months. Quality ceramic from a reputable installer lasts the life of the vehicle. When you factor in the repeat install cost plus the heat and UV damage to your interior from inferior film, the math almost always favors spending more upfront.
